Met Gala 2012
Known in sartorial circles as ‘The fashion Oscars’ fashion’s most eagerly anticipated night of the year The Met Gala arrived last night. Celebrating the opening of the Prada and Schiaparelli exhibition showcasing the incredible impact both designers have had on modern dressing. With outfits ranging from the sublime to the slightly ridiculous the A list were out in force showcasing all the SS12 trends from Solonge Knowles and Eva Mendes in fab colour pop dresses to B’s gothic feathered number to Poppy’s perfect Chanel. My favourite look of the night channelling Gatsby Glamour was Camilla Belle, ravishing in Ralph. Here’s her look from runway to red carpet.
Three of my absolute faves from The #MetGala2012 Emma Stone cute like a pretty little Lanvin fairy, Solonge fabulous in sunshine yellow Rachel Roy and Karolina sizzling like a perfect 1920s Hollywood star in Rachel Zoe sequins!
Australia Fashion Week SS12/13
During my visit to Sydney last year I noticed an abundance of ultra stylish ladies with their cool slick aesthetic, not afraid to experiment but never looking to try hard or OTT. Many of the catwalk shows at AFW reflected this ethos. Although we all love to watch the more ‘out there’ shows and the swoon at Parisian Couture in some ways it is infinitely more exciting to see an item on a model which would slot seamlessly into your wardrobe. Something to wear on a daily basis, a great go with anything jacket such as this tweed one by Whitney Eve or a playful dress to float around in during the summer like this orange Alice McCall number. This seems to be the niche the Aussies have embraced, (not forgetting the swimwear, it is the land of Bondi Beach after all)
Here are a few of my fave looks from #MBFWA12 from top left- Orange Dress by Alice McCall, Printed Dress by Whitney Eve, Shirtdress by Dylan Cooper, Trousers Shirt and Jacket by Sara Phillips, Shorts T-shirt and Necklace by Whitney Eve, Printed Jacket Top and Trousers by Dylan Cooper
